A fantastic new website, funded by Arts Council England and Channel Four, is combining a quotations dictionary with a social media network.
Quotables aims to create the most comprehensive and trustworthy source of quotations on the web. From the profound to the bizarre, language lovers can upload their favorite quotes to the site to create a constantly evolving resource.
In response to a percieved lack of accuracy from existing websites, Quotables quotations can be added to and edited by any user with site moderators on hand to deal with any issues. Sharing is also a key feature: quotes can be rated, tagged and shared on Facebook and Twitter with a single click.
Andy Bell creative director of Mint Digital, the digital agency that produced the site, said: 'Quotables has been a labour of love for all involved. The idea was to create a useful and accessible online home for quotations, generated by a community of quote lovers, which would dispel the inaccuracies of current quotation websites. We hope it will become the number one place for people to enjoy and share their favourite quotes online.'
